According to a study conducted by the American Council on Exercise, CrossFit can help burn calories in a short time. It’s tempting to start right away after hearing you can lose pounds of fat in a day. However, you should be prepared before you jump right into the training. Here are the things to know first before joining one:

  1. It’s Tough

CrossFit is at another level of toughness. It requires you to be tough not only physically but also mentally. You’ll feel overwhelmed at first at the amount of workout you should finish for a day.

  1. You Don’t Need a Fit Body

The workout will depend on how much you can only do. You won’t be forced to lift heavy dumbbells at first. The intensity of the workout will gradually increase as your body begins to adapt to the workout.

  1. You Need a Lot of Patience

CrossFit composes of various workouts. Even though you are an athlete, you will still have to start from the bottom and practise the basics of each workout.

  1. It is Confusing at First

The lingo seems hard to understand and the exercises are far different from the usual gym setups. But don’t worry, you’ll be surprised that in just a few days, you’ll get the hang of it.

  1. Be Easy on the “Accessory Work”

Accessory work is the additional exercises needed to be done after class. It is a kind of dynamic routine to condition the body. Although necessary, do not overdo it or else, you’ll get an injury.

  1. Do Not Overexert Yourself

It is important to get enough rest after intense workouts. Exerting yourself to do more will do no good because you won’t have enough energy to perform the exercises anymore.

  1. Eat Enough Protein and Carbohydrates

You might want to achieve a slim, fit body so you probably aren’t eating much while training. Avoid this and eat as much protein and carbohydrates because it can help boost your energy levels.
